ALL ABOUT THE STATES
==============================================================================
"ALL ABOUT THE STATES" is an educational learning game about our 50 states.
Four levels of play allow you to test your knowledge on the geography,
history, industries and natural resources of the states.

USING THE PROGRAM
The ARC file received from DATAMARK contains everything you need to use the
"ALL ABOUT THE STATES" package.
The file "STATES.ARC" contains five files:
STATES.EXE STATES.FAC
STATES.DAT STATES.CHM
STATES.DOC
1. Be sure to back up your original ARC file on to a floppy diskette.
2. UnARC the STATES.ARC file to extract the files it contains.
Type: ARC E STATES.ARC
3. To execute "ALL ABOUT THE STATES":
- Transfer control to the drive with "ALL ABOUT THE STATES" on it.
Make sure that all required files are on the default drive and type
STATES.
- Hit the ESC key to exit the program.
THE FOUR LEVELS OF PLAY
EXPLANATION
Level 1
An outline of the state is given, and you are required to enter
the name of the state.
Level 2
An outline of the state is given, and you are required to enter
the capital of the state.
Level 3
An outline of the state is given, and you are required to enter
the name of the state and its capital.
Level 4
An outline of the state is given, and you are required to enter
the name of the state and its capital. Then the screen will
change, presenting you with facts about the state and a randomly
chosen about the state's geography, history, industries or natural
resources.
CHOOSING A LEVEL OF PLAY
A level of play screen will ask you to enter a number to select the level
of play. Type the required number.
SCORING
You are allowed three attempts to correctly spell the state and three attempts
three attempts to correctly spell the capital. After three tries the computer
will spell the word for you. Points will be taken off for spelling errors.
Each question is worth:
5 points if answered correctly on the first try
3 points if answered correctly on the second try
1 point if answered correctly on the third try
Becoming a CHAMPION:
If you beat the high score you will become the CHAMPION. You will be asked to
enter your name. The current CHAMPION's name will be displayed during every
game.
